We offer innovative programs that connect people of different ages, social and cultural backgrounds to activities and opportunities so that they can maximise their potential.
South Port Uniting’s mission is to bring lasting solutions to disadvantaged people to enable them to overcome difficulties in their lives.
South Port Uniting’s vision is that people in our community who are in need are supported and connected to activities and opportunities that would give them the necessary skills to live independent and meaningful lives.
South Port Uniting is the community outreach service of South Port Uniting Church Parish Mission. With a proud 160 year history of working to reduce the effects of poverty in the South Melbourne, Port Melbourne and the Parks – Middle and Albert. Today we assist more than 5000 people every year helping them overcome obstacles in their lives.
South Port Uniting forms part of the national UnitingCare Network – one of Australia’s largest community service providers – which brings benefits to South Port, but doesn’t change its local and compassionate focus.
Our community is built on connections across many different social and cultural groups. Working with our service users, funders and like-minded community service organisations we are committed to the concept of collaboration, integrity and equality for all.
South Port Uniting employs a team of 26 staff who have a deep understanding of the dynamics of social disadvantage and the vital role of community in building capabilities which are necessary for reducing poverty and social exclusion. Our employees turn our values and goals into relationships and programs which enable members of our community to overcome adversity and to live life to the full.
We are joining with 21 other Uniting Church community service agencies to form a new single organisation. Uniting (Victoria and Tasmania) Limited was established and governance for all founding agencies was unified under the single Board on 3 October 2016.
The Uniting Board is an experienced, skills based team that will lead the design and build of the emerging organisation.
